Ford Super Duty Trucks Feature Adaptive Steering

Ford engineers took the Edge crossover’s adaptive steering technology and adapted it to work in the 2017 Ford Super Duty, leading to a first-in-class accomplishment!

The Adaptive steering technology can adjust the steering gear ratios by up to 30 percent as you drive, allowing you easier maneuvering at low speeds (saving almost a full wheel revolution) and presenting a more precise feel at higher speeds. The steering column houses an electric motor, gear unit and computer, all of which work together to remove or add torque to the column which, depending on speed, will either help or work against the driver’s efforts. One major new improvement in the Super Duty’s system is the towing and hauling mode.
